A-MUST-READ-POST

*

Hope YOU read at least this post.

 Folks

The above is the page in the dashboard of my blog. This gives details of the posts that have been loaded in the blog - date-wise.    It also gives the number of people who have read the respective posts and also the number of comments, if any.

A REAL SAD STORY. Just look at the number of readers. So few - though I have been posting it for some hundreds of alumni and faculty, present and past. Just shows the INTEREST  for your ALMA MATER !!

Among this sorry state of affair, I was happy to receive comments from my two old students, Dr.  SRINIVASA PERUMAL and Dr.VENMATHI. I felt that their message should reach the present staff of our college. In addition another usual 'guest' of this blog Prof. V. SRINIVASAN's few lines also are included.

Hope all receivers of this blog read at least this post.

Prof. V.SRINIVASAN writes ....

This web site was created to SAVE AMERICAN COLLEGE. Look at the number of persons posting their views - a Samuel Lawrence, a Rajendra Pandian and Dharumi, who maintains the blog. I am sure many follow the blog but don't take time to respond. This silence could be the reason that gives our Netrikan hero to act the way he does. Silence is not golden in matters like this. People who want to save the college should SHOUT. Wake up before it is too late.

Dr. SRINIVASA PERUMAL writes ....I strongly feel though, we are discussing a lot, the people who are all currently working and studying in the college only can bring the change in reality. ...To achieve any tangible success, the likeminded teaching staff and non-teaching staff should join together and protest aggressively.

 Dr.VENMATHI writes ...

How and why "most of the Academic Community of the College with him" that becomes Puriyatha Puthir for me!

(Mathi, you statement proves the high esteem you had for  the faculty, developed during your student days long time back here. All those old times ....! It is no more like that !!)

    Dear sir:

    Greetings.

I am an alumnus of The American College who was there in the campus during 1995 to 1998 at the department of Botany for my bachelor's degree. I did my post graduation at MKU and then joined as a research fellow at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc, Bangalore). I have been reading the blog posts through your emails for a long time (right from the days when I was in Germany for my Ph.D and in Boston, USA for my post-doctoral studies and in Toronto, Canada for a specialization).

Sorry to know that there are very few readers of the blog. I am one of those silent spectators. Kindly let us know, how we can help / save our college from these very obviously deceitful; fraudulent; and sham persons.

    Sincerely,

    --

  2. Dr. A. Jayamuruga Pandian,

this spirit that you have shown in your mail is the main thing that was lacking in this blog.

more than anything else comments like this will definitely make the blog 'live' and people in the 'opposite camps' will come to know the goodwill the college has among its alumni and alumna. at this point this fills up a big gap in the struggle. none knows the real opposition to the unlawful gang now in power.

thank you, Dr. A. Jayamuruga Pandian

  3. This site gives me lot of information about the current state of affairs of The American College we proudly tell our friends where we studied our UG. Those are the golden days under the leadership of Prof.Thangaraj as Principal. We enjoyed our stay in the College during our UG course.Beautiful campus in the center of Madurai. We enjoyed again last December 2012 after a gap of 33 years meeting our Teachers and my classmates in the same class room at Binghamton Hall where we begin our UG course with Prof.Winfred giving the first lecture. We were happy to meet him and other Professors Sam George,Somasundaram, Stanley Mosses and Lab attenders Majid Bai. The reunion was made possible by Dr.Navaneetha kannan and Dr.Kumarasamy. Once again we felt like students of The American College and we went around the campus seeing the red brick buildings of Hostels ,Chapel and places where we sitting and chatting. I remember two incidents how the Principal commanded his popularity by his simple and humane nature. We were sitting , standing and chatting near the cycle stand opposite to the English Department. In the far distance we saw a figure coming by bicycle toward us.Immediately the students recognized him and immediately disappeared from the place and went to the classes. The whole place was empty. The second incident was during 1977 I think first time in annals of college history we were on strike and squatting on the road opposite to the college entrance and police fired teargas shell as well as chasing us into the college campus. We were running and many students were caught by police and took them to police station. Immediately Prof.Thangaraj took action and brought them to the college. Seein the present scenario it is no more like that

  5. It is a pity that only a very few read the posts in the blog and respond to them. But, that need not deter us from continuing to do what we think is the right thing to do. I am happy about the response to this post by former students. I would be happier if the same spirit is found among the present faculty and students. That would turn the tide against the Evil entrenched in the college and dislodge it from its present position. Sooner that happened, the better it would be for the college.

  7. i am also one of the silent spectators, though i regularly read all the posts. at times, i dont know what to reply when i come to know the problems continue/take new avatars, i seriously thought the court verdict will come favorable to us. The great courage Sam George, Rajendra Pandian, Samuel Lawrence and others have is not comparable to anything else. When nothing is there to loose, confidence is the only force that could take to the future. In that sense, I lost the confidence at times because of which i was confused what to respond. Personally, i feel sad whenever i visit Madurai and not able to visit the college just because of the way the college functions these days. But this feeling sadness, expressing from faraway places are safe positions, but being practically involved then and there is most important, an issue brought in this blog. I feel really sorry in this part. I hope i will respond in future.
