IS THIS 'OUR OWN' COLLEGE ... ?

(Nothing said below is in any way any exaggeration. The next post with photos will stand proof for all these. This post is only a preparation for that future shock for you.)

Today is a very disheartening day. Our campus has seen something today which none of its alumni or anybdy related to our college would ever dreamt. HOOLIGANISM to the core … let out by some of our own students – against their own faculty and peers.

Students who stood for the college had a relay-fast last week supporting our casue. Today Faculty also joined this fast demanding quick justice. These people were all near the Washburn Gate. To show their animosity a group of bishoporic students with public address system started heckling us from the portico of the Main Hall. They even spelt out individual names of faculty and made worse comments. Our people never reacted to this. The police never did anything to stop all this.

Against the fast, the bishoporic gang had their own ‘eating fest’. Neatly packed ‘Jaffer Briyani’ was provided to them. During this time some stones were thrown into the shamiana of the fasting faculty. Probably that was a signal to the police! The police van left the campus leaving just 3 cops. Once the police left their cordon the ‘students’ started throwing stones against the fasting staff and students. It was a 'rain of stones'. (Later we found that around our revered Chapel these stones were in ready stock! Photos will prove this.) Defenseless people had to rush off for safety and the only way out was the road. They rushed to the road and blocked the traffic. They were chased outside the gate, even injuring the cops.

When the fasting people rushed outside the campus, the raging ‘students’ started violently  breaking the vehicles there. They were very selective. They broke the vehicles of staff. 5 cars of faculty were completely destroyed. They broke all the glasses and made heavy work on the body. They felt that it was complete only when all the cars were turned upside down. Two wheelers of the staff were also run down by the hysteric mob.

Police force came at their own leisure and concentrated on the group outside, trying to chase them off from the road but never bothering about the hooliganism inside the campus.

The hysteric mob then proceeded to Principal’s House. Photos in the next post would show how violent they were. They tried to break open the doors of the Morning Side. Principal’s mother, an 85 year old lady had to hide herself in the bathroom. Luckily the door did not give in.

Thinking that a car that stood near Morning Side was Principal's own car, the crowd did the maximum damage to that car and also made heavy damage to an omni van behind Morning Side,  Then they went to one the Wardens’ house – Dr.Silas. They were able to get into the house; broke the TV and audio systems. Their dog, Snoopy was able to chase the crowd and save the inmates.

With a heap of 7 cars and nearly 30 two wheelers the campus near the Flint House looked like a ravaged place.

With my experience of 33 years in the campus, I have always found our students raising to the occasion always. How come that sort of students became so violent against their own faculty and peers? The whole episode, when happened before my own eyes, was so unbelievable to me who was in the campus for so long ….

One of the students on our side tried to passify me saying that out of the 60-70 gangsters that came against us only around 20 were our students –specifically from one particular class.. Some old students, who were ‘brought up’ by the bishoporic gang during the last struggle were there and the other half of the crowd was out and out hired hooligans.

Even this does not satisfy me …They may be just 20 or so … still HOW COME OUR OWN STUDENTS GO FOR THIS RAMPAGE? How come the traditional well mannered students became such monsters?

ANOTHER QUESTION TO OUR COLLEAGUES ON THE ‘OTHER’ SIDE.
Leave alone those who are on that side for some ‘BONES’ thrown at them. And also forget those who stand with davamani on ‘personal loyalty’. They have some great (!)  purpose!

But those who are there killing their conscience and still be on that side .. only those rascals make me wonder what sort of people are they and what is the ‘heritage’ they have inherited. How can anybody with some semblance of conscience be still there after this collapse of any decency. I really doubt their …. Let me not say what I really mean.
