  1. I once again thank ’Nettrikkan’ for raising issues relating to the American College. Besides publishing Prof. Lawrence’s letter, which not only thanks and appreciates the journal but also draws everyone’s attention to some very important issues at hand, ‘Nettrikkan’ has also acknowledged this blog in their article; we thank them for that.

However, when I read that the land of our main campus in Goripalayam belongs to the government as they had allegedly leased it to the college for a period of 99 years [and that too lapsed long ago], I cannot readily accept it, as I do not know how correct this information is.

Anyway, ‘Nettrikkan’ may do good to delve into it and bring out the truth—whatever it is. I suggest, they also interview someone with substantial administrative experience in the college like Dr. P.R. Anbudurai, [who has been the Bursar, the Vice Principal, and the Principal-in-Charge at different times] and raise with him this as well as the other issues mentioned: the status of the Society that governs the college and the proposed appointment of a Special Officer to administer the same. Will they?

  2. A special officer to run the College? Forget it. It cannot happen. Any one can go to the Land Registration office and seek information on the ownership of the land. 99 year lease may not be true. One of my old friends Mr. R. Suryanarayanan (RS) former Lecturer in Physics in the College has told me that Prof. N. Ramaswamy Iyer, the first Professor of Physics in the College had negotiated and purchased the land for the College and in return the College had honored him as a permanent member of the College Governing Council.
