We used to feel normally very proud when we have the photo of our college in any journal's cover, since they would be normally in praise of our college. Now things are taking a bitter pattern. It now gives more a shock than pleasure.

In the second and third scanned sheets, details of the swindling of each one in the family of the Bishop - his wife, two sons and then our great "PRINCIPAL" and his wife are given in a very great detail - almost naming the newly acquired properties ! Good investigation journalism !!

"Seven years back the family of the Bishop was just an ordinary one. But now it has amassed a wealth of more than 2000 crores (let me TRY to put them in numbers ! Rs. 2000,00,00,000 ... அம்மாடி ..!) They have sold the properties of C.S.I. or made them their own properties. They still grabbed many posts and continue in them.
If steps are taken by the concerned departments whole truth will see the light of the day."

ReplyDeleteAround 1950s a canal was flowing through the campus (the so called Nolting Canal). The Gorippalayam sewage used to get drained through that canal. It used to stink. With great effort taking the issue to the highest administrator of Tamilnadu (The Chief secretary, Government of Tamilnadu) an old student of the College the canal was diverted to go outside the compound wall on the Panagal Road side (Hospital side) and the stink inside the campus was stopped. Now without the canal the College seems to stink. Thanks to the present administration.

ReplyDeleteThe articles show us once again that we have been fighting real anti social elements that have been bulldozing their way through using money and muscle power. Our bureaucrats, who raise all weird queries even on clean cases and take ages to forward a paper, cleared Dr. Davamani Christober’s papers in a relatively very short time and granted him necessary approvals—for reasons (un)known. Of course they did it in the thick of controversies and legal disputes over
i) Dr. Christober’s academic qualifications;
ii) the procedural violations involved in his selection as Principal, and
iii) the legitimacy of the very council that made his appointment.
Above all, they did it ignoring the Honorable Justice Chandru’s court order (Aug 25,2011) that directs the Joint Director of Collegiate Education, Madurai to disburse salary to the American College staff until all these disputes “are resolved in a manner known to law”. Dr. Christober who claimed and acquired his right to disburse salary, based on those questionable approvals, has strengthened his position since then presumably with the help of certain government officials and our own members of the faculty. Indeed we moved the court again and have got some rulings in our favor. Although Dr. Christober has managed to stay in power until now and feel confident to the extent that he recently tried to contest the MKU Senate Election as the Principals’ Association’s candidate [but got disqualified at the entry level], he also knows, I guess, of the nearing reversal of fortune.

The series of articles published in Netrikkan, unmasking Davamani Christober and exposing his true colours, should serve as a wake-up call for all those who hold this college near and dear to their heart.How can such a corrupt, unscrupulous and utterly incompetent person, who came to power violating traditions and breaking rules, be allowed to continue to enjoy the fruits of power? This is nothing but an insult to the sacred memory of the selfless and scholarly founding fathers of this institution and their successors. We cannot afford to be mute spectators, watching this drama of injustice enacted, in all its cruelty, in front of us.
ReplyDeleteThis web site was created to SAVE AMERICAN COLLEGE. Look at the number of persons posting their views - a Samuel Lawrence, a Rajendra Pandian and Dharumi, who maintains the blog. I am sure many follow the blog but don't take time to respond. This silence could be the reason that gives our Nakkiran hero to act the way he does. Silence is not golden in matters like this. People who want to save the college should SHOUT. Wake up before it is too late.
