    Dear Sam,

It is with immense sadness that I learn that Dr. Paramasivam Kumarasamy is no more. He may not have reached retirement age; he may still have been in service; so the demise is premature and perhaps unexpected, adding further to the sorrow and grief of family and friends. We have to once again remind ourselves that life and death are not in our hands. Our heartfelt condolences to the Kumarasamy and American College families. May Dr.P.Kumarasamy's soul rest in peace.

  4. I remember Dr.Paramasivam Kumarasamy, as an energetic and talented young man, always with a friendly smile. He was passionately attached to the American College. I can never forget the way in which he demonstrated his love for the College during the peak period of the struggle to save it from the dastardly attack by the selfish and unscrupulous elements. He was always in the forefront. The slogans mostly coined by himself and shouted with gusto in his stentorian voice galvanized many into action.
It is difficult to believe that he is no more with us but the example he has left behind will continue to be a source of inspiration to all those fighting for the College.
My heartfelt condolences to all those near and dear to him.

  6. A very sad news. Kumarasamy's father Paramasivam and I joined the College as lecturers about the same time. We both were from Annamalai University. I had known Kumarasamy from the time he was born. It a pity he has left us so soon.
Kumarasamy will be remembered for the following. 1. His famous picture of a bat catching its prey and his work on bats and 2. Don't forget this blog was created and initially managed by him and our Sam George

My heartfelt condolences. I tried to meet Kumar towards the end of July but in vain. Called only Prof.Suriakumar to convey my wishes. Prof.N.M.Informed me and then Prof.Sam George. Also a very good entertainer to my grand children. Photos taken by Kumar decorates the hall in my daughter's and son's house in CA and WA. Everyone at home feel very sad for the death of my Student, colleague and friend. He is a lower of plants and animals. On many occasions we were together to photograph things. Really I miss him. I informed Dr.Krishnamani also.

PK was a great friend and committed fighter. I got close with him only after the trouble erupted in April 2008. No gate meeting passed by without his thunderous sloganeering that so amazed even some police officials that I have seen them complementing him. I would recall one particular incident involving PK. As we were fasting on campus on March 16, 2011, an unruly throng of around 200 students started disrupting the event: some of them were shouting on a microphone addressing some teachers in very humiliating ways. They called PK names. But, PK under the shamiyana was sitting very composed with a smile on his face. He was not disturbed that the students were insulting him; but, concerned about the shameful state of the college. Soon the police and the press left the scene signalling the thugs to ‘start’. Stones rained on us and vehicles were broken with sticks, iron rods, and bigger stones. We ran for cover; some were seriously wounded. PK ran too. PK’s car was broken in the rampage. By the end of the day when friends tried to comfort him he only said he would endure the worst for the College. He proved his content at a time of crisis. May his soul rest in peace!
