INVITATION WITHOUT THE NAME OF Dr. RIESZ |

LAST MINUTE ADDITION OF Dr. RIESZ'S NAME |

ULTIMATE EMBARRASSMENT
None can question the presence and visit of Dr. Riesz to our college campus. However the 'diplomacy' of Dr. Christober in bringing him in the last minute in the invitation as well as in the college day function makes the lovers of the college frightened and worried. He will definitely try to harvest the maximum political mileage of the visit of the Chairman of our college Trustees.
I personally got phone calls from friends inquiring about the advertisement in the dailies regarding today's function in the college and Dr.Riesz's presence in the function.
Prof. D. Samuel Lawrence has already posted a mail to Dr. Riesz, echoing the feelings of people who have been supporting the cause of the college.
Dr. RAJENDRA PANDIAN writes ....

Interesting. The College nor the P G Physics Department had no role in the nomination of Dr. R P Riesz for the INSA award. Prof. R. Simon of the Institute of Mathematical Sciences Chennai, a fellow of the INSA was the one who sent the nomination as a part of the golden jubilee celebrations of P G Physics Department. I and Dr. G. Srinivasan formerly of P G Physics Department had given some input to Prof. Simon in preparing the nomination. Prof. Simon has arranged for a ceremonial presentation of the award in on 12th April at Chennai with distinguishes scientists and INSA representatives. It is surprising our friends in Madurai have done some sniffing and had arranged for a felicitation for Dr. Riesz. Let people decide whether the College is correct in stealing a show.
